First Gnome to Visit Antarctica

Jerome to be the first Gnome ever to set foot on Antarctica Jerome A. Graham III, the travelling gnome, will be travelling to the frozen continent in januari 2008 as a member of Asteria Expedition's Antarctica Crew. In his quest,to find a place where Gnome and Man can live in harmony with Nature and each other, Jerome has visited many countries on nearly all continents. Now he'll boldly go where no gnome has gone before: Antarctica! His first landing on Antarctica is planned for Januari 26th. In the summer of 2007 Jerome received a mail from Asteria Expeditions in wich they played with the idea of helping Jerome with his quest by inviting him on their next Antarctica-expedition. Asteria, wich has a long tradition in polarexpeditions, was going to follow the path of other famous Antarctica-explorers, Adrien de Gerlache and his crew of the "Belgica". Along the way they would meet with yet another well-known explorer: Dixie Dansercoer. The expedition that'll make Jerome the first gnome on Antarctica will leave Belgium on Januari 22nd and will return on Februari 5th 2008. It will try to revisit the sites where the Belgica made its landings in 1898. A complete, day-by-day, programme is available at http://travellinggnome.net/antarctica. To promote this, and other, endeavours Asteria Expeditions and Reizen Van Renterghem hosted a press conference in december 2008. On this event Jerome had a chance to meet Mr.Nadjib Riphat Kesoema, Indonesia's ambassador in Brussels and key speaker on RVR's Salon Vakantiereizen 2008. Jerome will be attending the "Salon Vakantiereizen 2008" on the 5th and 6th of Januari as a special guest of Asteria Expedtions. On the Asteria Expeditions/TravellingGnome press conference the Asteria crew and Jerome presented their 2008 expedition to Antarctica. Mr. Nadjib Riphat Kesoema, Indonesia's ambassador to Brussels, attended this press conference as the host of Bruges' 2008 Holiday Salon and was delighted to have his picture taken with Jerome during their long and interesting conversation. They discussed international Gnome Rights and environmental issues as both subjects are very relative to man and gnome alike. Both his Excellence Mr. Nadjib Riphat Kesoema and Jerome declared that the talk was one of the best they've had in weeks!

Since there's finally a new and stable version of the slideshow software we will be able to show you, with a big delay, all pictures you guys have been waiting for since... wel, since a very long time! Guinness World Record Attempt not accepted

The Guinness World Record Book deemed Jerome's plan to be officially recognised as the first gnome ever to set foot on Antarctica not notable enough to be mentioned in their annual publication. Jerome regrets this descision but accepts the ruling of the good people of Guinness World records.

Jerome A. Graham III, the travelling gnome, applied for a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2008 when, in january, he becomes the first gnome to set foot on the Antarctic continent. He will lead a second expedition later that month. The GWR will investigate Jerome's claim to fame before accepting ore declining his application. To be continued...

On the evening of August 6th Jerome will appear on the popular Flemish quiz show "De Canvascrack". This TV-program will be aired on Canvas (Flemish Public Broadcaster, VRT) at 21.55h. During the entire show Jerome will be supporting one of the contesters on set. Strategically seated on "Table Four" the globetrotting gnome will truly be the star of the show. Canvas is available in Belgium, Holland and most parts of Luxembourg, France and Germany or via satellite. After a close inspection of the factory where Belgian firm "De Hobbit" produces the now (in)famous "Kabouterpat�" Jerome Angus Graham III, the Travelling Gnome, awarded "De Hobbit" and its brand "Food For Freedom" the first ever "Kaboutervriendelijk Product" certificate. The company is awarded this certificate for its gnomefriendly production process and the incorporation of Gnome's culture in its factory. They may use the certificate as a label of quality for "Kabouterpat�" towards retailers, consumers and the media. No gnomes in gnome pat�!

After a close inspection of the factory where Belgian firm "De Hobbit" produces the now (in)famous "Kabouterpat�" Jerome Angus Graham III, the Travelling Gnome, concluded that the vegetarian sandwich spread contains absolutely no gnomes or traces of gnomes. The pat� is in fact a biological treat containing tofu, seitan, mushrooms and a selection of vegetables. Jerome was delighted by the gnomefriendly and clean facilities. He even spotted some of the employees wearing the same pointed hats worn by millions of gnomes worldwide. "One can only support these people's efforts to incorporate this much of Gnome's culture in a semi-industrial environment!" Jerome stated enthousiastically. After this inspection Jerome closed the petition on his website. This petition demanded more transparency about the production of "Kabouterpat�" and, during the six months it was online, was signed by 275 friends of gnomekind worldwide. Agreement reached for Gnome Pat� Inspection

First contacts between Jerome and The Hobbit, the company that produces the infamous "Kabouterpat�" (Gnome Pat�) indicate that an inspection of the pat�'s production site will take place in april or may of 2007. An exact date is still to be set but Jerome states that he is confident that both parties will be able to set a final date in the next two weeks.

Jerome to visit NATO ISAF peacekeepers in Afghanistan
