Jerome A. Graham III, the travelling gnome, has travelled to the frozen continent in januari 2008 as a member of Asteria Expedition's Antarctica Crew.

In his quest,to find a place where Gnome and Man can live in harmony with Nature and each other, Jerome has visited many countries on nearly all continents.

In the summer of 2007 Jerome received a mail from Asteria Expeditions in wich they played with the idea of helping Jerome with his quest by inviting him on their next Antarctica-expedition. Asteria, wich has a long tradition in polarexpeditions, was going to follow the path of other famous Antarctica-explorers, Adrien de Gerlache and his crew of the "Belgica". Along the way they would meet with yet another well-known explorer: Dixie Dansercoer.

The expedition that made Jerome the first gnome on Ghent (Gand/Gent) Island left Belgium on Januari 22nd and returned on Februari 5th 2008. Itrevisited the sites where the Belgica made its landings in 1898. A complete, day-by-day, programme is available here.

To promote this, and other, endeavours Asteria Expeditions and Reizen Van Renterghem hosted a press conference in december 2008. On this event Jerome had a chance to meet Mr.Nadjib Riphat Kesoema, Indonesia's ambassador in Brussels and key speaker on RVR's Salon Vakantiereizen 2008. A picture of this meeting is available here.
